DOE fills key management position at the Office of River Protection

This story was published Thursday May 8th 2008

by U.S. Department of Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today named Stacy Charboneau as the Assistant Manager for Tank Farms at the Office of River Protection (ORP). In this role, she will be responsible for the continued safe storage and removal of 53 million gallons of chemical and radioactive waste from 170 underground tanks at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State.

"Stacy's education, training, and experience at Hanford and on other assignments make her a strong addition to the ORP team," said ORP Manager Shirley J. Olinger. "I have the utmost confidence in Stacy's ability to lead the tank farms project at Hanford and look forward to her joining our team."

Most recently, Charboneau served as the Deputy Assistant Manager for River Corridor cleanup at the Richland Operations Office. Stacy started at Hanford in 1994 as an engineer in the Waste Operations Division. Prior to coming to Hanford, she was at the U.S. Department of Defense's Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport, Washington.

While at the Richland Operations Office, Charboneau served as a Facility Representative and the Program Manager for the Facility Representatives; held the position of Engineering and Construction Projects Manager for the Spent Nuclear Fuel Project; and served as a Federal Project Director in both the River Corridor and Central Plateau projects, including the Plutonium Finishing Plant. Charboneau also served on a detail as the Acting Tank Farms Operations Division Director at the Office of River Protection. She holds a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University.
