This story was published Wednesday August 20th 2008 By the Herald staff Steven Ashby from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has been named deputy director for science and technology at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Ashby is leaving his post as deputy principal associate director for science and technology at Livermore to join the Richland laboratory in September. He will replace Doug Ray, who served as interim deputy director. Ray remains as associate laboratory director for the fundamental and computational sciences directorate. While at Livermore, Ashby led several world-class computing initiatives and was founding director of the Center for Applied Scientific Computing. He became deputy associate director for computing applications and research in 2002. He also oversaw the Advanced Scientific Computing program for the Department of Homeland Security. |
