This story was published Friday January 22nd 2010 By the Herald staff Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has selected the first recipients of the Pacific Northwest Distinguished Post-Doctoral Fellowship based on their research proposals. Grant Johnson, who completed a doctorate in chemistry at Pennsylvania State University, will research using mass spectrometry as a tool to create new catalytic materials. Xiao Lin, a Humboldt Fellow at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, Germany, will develop a detailed molecular-level understanding of the reactivity of carbon oxides with different types of surface structures to better understand catalysts. Additional fellowship positions will be offered in the spring to help develop the next generation of scientific leadership at the Richland lab. |
